Four and Eight Output DTP Distribution Amplifiers

The Extron DTP HD DA4 4K 230 and DTP HD DA8 4K 230 are distribution amplifiers that provide one HDMI input with loop-through, and either four or eight DTP® outputs. Each twisted pair output sends HDMI, audio, and control up to 230 feet (70 meters) over shielded CATx cable to Extron DTP‑enabled products. The DTP HD DA 4K 230 accepts analog stereo audio signals for simultaneous transmission over the same shielded CATx cable. It supports video signals at resolutions up to 4K. The DTP HD DA 4K 230 offers bidirectional RS‑232 and IR pass-through at each DTP output, plus system level RS‑232 control of AV devices via Ethernet insertion. It features remote powering of DTP receivers, EDID Minder®, Key Minder®, and selectable output muting.

The HDCP-compliant DTP HD DA 4K 230 enables the reliable transmission of HDMI signals, supporting Deep Color up to 12‑bit, and embedded HD lossless audio formats. The DTP HD DA 4K 230 also provides a connection for sending stereo analog audio to a DTP‑enabled matrix switcher, switcher, or signal processor. The analog stereo audio signal is sent over the same shielded twisted pair cable as the HDMI and control signals, eliminating the need for a separate cable run to support analog audio at the DTP‑enabled product. The distribution amplifier features an analog stereo audio loop-through for local audio system and monitoring needs.

The distribution amplifier supports simultaneous transmission of bidirectional RS‑232 and IR signals from a control system for AV device control, using pass-through connections at each DTP output. RS‑232 signals can also be inserted over Ethernet for system level AV device control. Additionally, the DTP HD DA 4K 230 can send power to each of the four or eight DTP receivers over the shielded twisted pair cable, streamlining system design and installation. The DTP HD DA 4K 230 can be integrated with Extron switchers, scalers, or other DTP‑enabled products to provide multiple, simultaneous outputs for signage and presentation overflow room applications.

For integration flexibility, each DTP twisted pair output can be independently configured for compatibility with HDBaseT-enabled displays. When configured for HDBaseT compatibility, digital video and embedded audio, plus bidirectional RS‑232 and IR signals are sent up to 230 feet (70 meters) over shielded CATx cable.

To enhance and simplify integration of sources and displays, and to help ensure optimal system performance, the DTP HD DA 4K 230 features two Extron-exclusive technologies: EDID Minder and Key Minder. EDID Minder manages EDID communication between the display devices and input source to ensure that the correct video formats are displayed reliably. For HDMI signals with protected content, Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption between input and output devices to ensure the simultaneous distribution of source content to all displays. The DTP HD DA 4K 230 also automatically adjusts color bit depth based on the display EDID, preventing color compatibility conflicts between source and display. The DTP outputs can be muted independently via Ethernet or RS‑232 control allowing, for example, content to be previewed on a local monitor prior to appearing on the main presentation display.

The DTP HD DA 4K 230 provides automatic input cable equalization up to 75 feet (22.8 meters) at 1080p/60 with 8‑bit color on Extron HDMI Pro Series cables. Input cable equalization restores and reshapes incoming HDMI signals, reducing the need for additional signal conditioning equipment by compensating for weak source signals or signal loss from a long input cable.

The DTP HD DA 4K 230 can be controlled via Ethernet, USB, or RS‑232. Configuration of the DTP HD DA 4K 230 is made simple with Extron's PCS - Product Configuration Software with a user‑friendly GUI that is very easy to navigate. This software application allows for expedited setup and commissioning, real-time operation and monitoring, plus the ability to configure several units in the same session.

Extron recommends Extron-certified XTP DTP 24 shielded twisted pair cable, shielded RJ‑45 plugs, jacks, and couplers engineered for optimum signal transmission with Extron DTP Series products. The XTP DTP 24 cable is certified to 475 MHz and utilizes a SF/UTP design with four unshielded 24 AWG twisted pair conductors inside an overall braid and foil shield for superior performance and noise immunity.

Compatible with CATx shielded twisted pair cable — Shielded twisted pair cabling with solid center conductor sizes of 24 AWG or better is recommended for optimal performance.

Audio input with loop-through accepts additional analog stereo audio signals — The DTP HD DA 4K 230 accepts stereo analog audio signals for simultaneous transmission over the same shielded twisted pair cable, and it includes a loop-through for local audio system and monitoring needs. Analog audio is not embedded onto the digital video signal, nor is digital audio de‑embedded from the digital video signal.

DTP outputs are compatible with HDBaseT-enabled devices — Each DTP output can be configured to send video and embedded audio, plus bidirectional RS‑232 and IR signals to an HDBaseT-enabled display.

Supports multiple embedded audio formats — The DTP HD DA 4K 230 is compatible with a broad range of multi-channel audio signals, providing reliable operation with HDMI sources.

RS‑232 insertion from the Ethernet control port — System level AV device control to all remote locations via the distribution amplifier’s Ethernet port, providing comprehensive control of the attached devices without needing additional equipment.

Bidirectional RS‑232 and IR pass‑through for AV device control — Bidirectional RS‑232 control and IR signals can be transmitted alongside the video signal, allowing remote AV devices to be controlled without the need for additional cabling.

HDCP compliant — Ensures display of content-protected media and interoperability with other HDCP-compliant devices.

User-selectable HDCP authorization — Allows the unit to appear HDCP compliant or non-HDCP compliant to the connected source, which is beneficial if the source automatically encrypts all content when connected to an HDCP-compliant device. Protected material is not passed in non-HDCP mode.

Key Minder® continuously verifies HDCP compliance — Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption between input and output devices to enable simultaneous distribution of a single source signal to two or more displays.

EDID Minder® automatically manages EDID communication between connected devices — EDID Minder ensures that the source powers up properly and reliably outputs content for display.

Supports EDID and HDCP transmission — DDC channels are actively buffered, allowing continuous communication between source and display.

HDCP authentication and signal presence confirmation — Provides real-time verification of HDCP status for each digital video input and output. This allows for simple, quick, and easy signal and HDCP verification through front panel LEDs, RS‑232, USB, or Ethernet, providing valuable feedback to a system operator or helpdesk support staff.

HDCP Visual Confirmation provides a green signal when encrypted content is sent to a non‑compliant display — A full-screen green signal is sent when HDCP-encrypted content is transmitted to a non‑HDCP compliant display, providing immediate visual confirmation that protected content cannot be viewed on the display.

HDMI to DVI Interface Format Correction — Automatically enables or disables embedded audio and InfoFrames, and sets the correct color space for proper connection to HDMI and DVI displays.

Automatic color bit depth management — The DTP HD DA 4K 230 automatically adjusts color bit depth based on the display EDID, preventing color compatibility conflicts between source and displays.

Output muting control — Provides the capability to mute one or all outputs at any time. In addition to muting audio, video, or both, the unit can also be set to mute video and sync to allow projectors or flat-panel displays to automatically enter into standby mode to save energy and enhance lamp or panel life.

Automatic input cable equalization to 75 feet (22.8 meters) at 1080p/60 with 8‑bit color when used with Extron HDMI Pro cables — Cable input equalization optimizes signal performance for all HDMI signals, helping to ensure pristine image quality throughout DTP Systems. 4K and 2560x1600 @ 60 Hz resolutions are equalized to 50 feet (15 meters).

Provides +5 VDC, 250 mA power on the local HDMI output for external peripheral devices

Ethernet monitoring and control — Enables control and proactive monitoring over a LAN, WAN, or the Internet.

Compatible with all DTP 230 Series receivers and DTP‑enabled products — Enables mixing and matching with desktop and wallplate receivers, as well as other DTP‑enabled products to meet application requirements.

Built‑in Web pages — Enables the use of a standard browser for device monitoring and troubleshooting over an intuitive Web interface.
